Windies tribute to Mr Steve Camacho

GALLE, Sri Lanka –The West Indies players are wearing black armbands during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium in memory Steve Camacho, the former West Indies cricketer and administrator.

George Stephen Camacho was born on October 15, 1945 and died on October 2, 2015. During his playing career Camacho was a top order batsman who represented Guyana and West Indies in the 1960s and 70s. He played 11 Test matches.

After retirement from the game he became one of the leading administrators. He was manager of the West Indies team and later the first Chief Executive Officer of the West Indies Cricket Board.

The West Indies and Sri Lanka are scheduled to play two Test matches: at Galle International Stadium from October 14-18; the second Test at P Sara Oval in Colombo from October 22-26.

The winners will be awarded the Sobers/Tissera trophy in honour of West Indies icon Sir Garfield Sobers and Michael Tissera, the former Sri Lanka captain.
