U.S. Coast Guard Helps a Day Care and a Community Center on Bonaire

Last Friday, members of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter (USCGC) Bear assisted in two
community relations projects during their stay on Bonaire.
In coordination with the Bonaire government, 11 USCGC Bear crew members helped with
painting and planted several fruit trees at KIBOS (Keyboss) Children activity center in Nikiboko
and painted the outer wall off the Rincon Community Center in Rincon on Friday, June 19,
2015.
“It was an honor to have the opportunity to participate in this event and help out the Bonaire
community. I’d like to thank the people of Bonaire for their warm hospitality and for sharing
their beautiful island with us. Our special thanks go out to Mrs. Silvana Serfilia of the Bonaire
government who organized the projects. I know everyone who participated had a blast and I’m
excited to see the development of the trees and the community center in the coming years,”
ENS Aaron Davis said.
