Minister of Security and Justice announces construction of a new fire station at the airport of Saba

During his introductory visit to the Windward Islands of the Caribbean Netherlands, the Minister of Security and Justice, Gerard van der Steur, announced that a new fire station at the airport of Saba will be built.
The minister is force administrator of the Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands and in that position also responsible for the housing of the fire department on the three islands of the Caribbean Netherlands.

In the presence of, amongst others island governor Jonathan Johnson, general commander of the Fire Department Caribbean Netherlands , Jair Tromp and employees of the fire department, the minister said that he will ensure, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment,Rijkswaterstaat and the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf, that Saba in the near future has access to a modern fire station.

In 2013 the Inspection Environment and Transport of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, started the project to modernize the airport of Saba. It also adjusts the relocation of the fire station, which is made financially possible by the Ministry of Security and Justice.

Preparations for the construction will start soon.
