Minister Connor congratulates Zaandam as new SHTA Director

Minister of Tourism Claret Connor on Monday congratulated Anenda Zaandam on her appointment as Executive Director of the St. Maarten Hospitality & Trade Association (SHTA).

The SHTA announced Zaandam’s appointment to the post last week.

 

Minister Connor congratulated the SHTA on its selection of a young professional to the post. It is a position also previously held by Valya-Lake Pantophlet who is currently the Department Head of Economic Licenses under the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

 

He praised Zaandam as an example and role model for others to follow and said he is looking forward to her being an asset to the SHTA as Director.

 

Zaandam is a Certified Hospitality Educator of the American Hotel & Lodging Association Educational Institute, will be bringing her extensive knowledge of the Hospitality & Service Industry to the SHTA.

 

She started her career in the hospitality industry in 2002 as an Assistant Banqueting & Convention Manager at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino. Since then her career has steadily taken off to new horizons.

 

Adding to her expertise, Zaandam has not only been a student of a hospitality classroom, but a teacher as well at the Mondriaan College voor Horeca en Toerisme in the Netherlands andthe Sundial School in St. Maarten. A change in career in 2012,  led Ms. Zaandam to the Government of St. Maarten as the Executive Assistant to the former Minister of Education Culture Youth and Sports – Ms. Silveria Jacobs.
