SPORT REPORT NATIONAL TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP. 2014:

Over the weekend of Saturday November 1st 2014 the St. Maarten Amateur Athletic Association hosted the Annual National Track & Field Championship.
This event was a great success, we are looking to give this event a great boost for the coming year 2015.
Whereby we will only be catering to the best of the best coming from all schools. One day will be dedicated to the elementary schools and one day to the Secondary schools extended to the sporting clubs.
This event had a participation of 40 plus children coming from 8 different schools. These schools were Sister Borgia, Mac, Vocational school, Asha Stevens, Milton Peters Collage, St. Maarten Academy, Sundial, and PSVE.
Athletes competed in 10 different events. Which were 50 meters, 80, 100, 150, 200, 400,- 800, javelin throw, Long jump, and Shot put. Participants were devided in three categories. Under 10 – Under 13 – Under 17 and the Open class male and females.
In the next Championship we will be competing in approximately 20 different events.

· 50 Meters: U10
1. Girls Esjanee Shillingford with a time of 8.9 Seconds.
2. Channel Richardson time 9.9 sec.

The board of the Track & Field Association would like to thank all persons who have assisted with the this event becoming a great success.
All athletes are hereby invited to take part in the upcoming RIGHTS OF THE CHILD celebrations. This will take place on November 22nd on the Frenchside of St. Martin. Countries participating are French side – Anguilla – Saba – and Dutch St. Maarten.

All Athletes Under 20 who have taken part and given their intention to take part in the upcoming Carifta Games their progression will be carefully monitored and assistance granted where is needed.

The second qualification meet for the Carifta Games will be in February 2015.
