Regina LaBega Among CEO Panelists at Cancun Conference

Managing Director of the Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM), Regina LaBega, is among the CEOs invited to participate in several panel discussions at the annual meeting of top airport executives organized by Airports Council International – Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC).

The conference, which will be held in Cancun, Mexico from November 8 – 11, 2014, has as its main topic, “Airports Contributing to Sustainable Tourism.”

According to Javier Martinez Botacio, Director General of ACI-LAC, LaBega will be featured on the panel, “Sustainable Tourism: Key for Caribbean Airports.” This panel, he said, will bring together “the CEOs of Airports in the Caribbean to discuss the role of airports for a sustainable tourism development based on the fundamental dependence of the economies of these countries in the tourism industry.”
Three other executives will be speaking on this panel including Ralph Blanchard, Director General of Curacao Airport Partners, CAP.

“It is an honor to be invited to this prestigious conference as a panelist representing the Princess Juliana International Airport, and of course, St. Maarten,” said LaBega, who prior to her current position, headed the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau for many years.

“My experience in the tourism field will come in handy as we discuss this important topic, as airports and tourism go hand in hand,” she added.

The conference, hosted by Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR), will also discuss subjects such as connectivity, infrastructure development, sustainability, fostering the growth of air travel, airport management, Airport Service Quality, commercial management, and safety among others.
