St. Maarten Lions Club Organizes Movie Viewing for Foster Homes and Sister Basilia Centre

It was all cheers of joy on Saturday October 4th as Dutch Tours bus drivers drove children of the I Can Foundation, Home Outreach Foster Care and New Start for Children Foundation to Caribbean Cinemas Movie Theatres. The children, along with clients of the Sister Basilia Centre were treated to juice, popcorn, and a choice of hotdog or nachos, while watching the movie “Dolphin Tale 2”.

St. Maarten Lions Club President Sunil Khatnani, at the end of the hour and a half movie, interacted with the children and asked them if they knew the moral of the story. He stated “the moral of the story is that there is always hope. No matter what the circumstances, as long as you go to school and do your best to get an education there is always hope for things to improve for the better.” He reemphasized the commitment of the St. Maarten Lions Club to continue to make meaningful contributions to the community, showing love and care through positive action projects such as this one.

Lions Jessica Challenger-Vrolijk and Selma Baker spearheaded the committee that organized the event which would not have been possible without the collaboration of Caribbean Cinemas that allowed the viewing of the film outside of its regular hours, and Dutch Tours who included a drive over the Causeway Bridge as an extra experience. Divico Distributors made a special contribution of goody bags for the children as a parting gift. The Lions Club of St. Maarten extends their thanks to the afore-mentioned businesses that partnered with the club to realize this project.
