Appeal after acquittal attempted manslaughter

The Public Prosecutors Service appealed the Courts decision in the case against the 36-year-old man ES
R. On September 30, 2014, the Court acquitted suspect ES R. of attempted homicide and attempted
aggravated assault. The case was disputed during the court hearing of September 10, 2014.
ES R. is suspected to shoot twice from his car at the victim DR W. This happened on March 12, 2014.
One bullet didn’t hurt the victim, while the other one was shot in the right thigh. The victim was taken
to hospital for medical treatment and could leave the hospital after surgery. The suspect made a
statement for the first time during the court hearing: he confessed that he shot the victim.
Therefore, the prosecution does not agree with the Court’s verdict that the acts of the accused cannot
be qualified as an attempted homicide, nor as an attempt to inflict grievous bodily harm to the victim.
