In November 2013 the renovation of the Golden Rock School was started up by the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf and a contractor. This renovation is part of the master plan education accommodation for Sint Eustatius. In the course of the process, it became clear that additional measures would be necessary and it was decided that the additional work for the realization of these measures would be carried out by a third party, which was subsequently hired.
On August the 13th 2014 the collaboration between the main contractor and The Rijksvastgoedbedrijf was terminated as the parties concerned could not come to an agreement about the continuation of the work, after stagnation. Nonetheless, at this moment works are still being carried out by the third party.
The Public Entity of St. Eustatius and The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW )in collaboration with the Rijksvastgoedbedrijf are on top of things in order to ease the inconvenience this may cause for pupils, parents and staff. The solution on the best way to continue without further delay is being prepared.
Execution of the solution and the easing of the inconveniences will be carried out in talks with the board and management of the Golden Rock School.
