PSS NV completes delivery of voting cards for next Friday’s parliamentary elections

Postal Services St. Maarten (PSS N.V.) today announced that it has completed delivery of voting cards for the upcoming St. Maarten Parliamentary elections on Friday, August 29, 2014.
All voting cards which could not be delivered as addressed by PSS N.V. Postal staff has been returned to the Census Office located on University Boulevard, Philipsburg, where they can be picked up upon presentation of a valid ID.
Out of the 24,053 voting cards presented to PSS N.V. for delivery, a total of 1,276 voting cards has been returned to the Cencus Office.
PSS N.V. strongly urges members of the public who have not yet received their voting card(s) to report to the Census Office as soon as possible since PSS N.V. has carried out its contractual obligation to deliver voting cards St. Maarten postal addresses within a specified time frame.
We are most grateful to members of the public and also to our corporate clients for their patience, understanding and cooperation during the past eight days while we were delivering the voting cards to members of the public throughout all postal districts.
We consider our delivery of voting cards as a major success considering the many challenges faced by postal staff when making deliveries to addresses without a post box for receiving mail, or to addresses where persons no longer live. In such cases, we have to rely on the experience and knowledge of our postal delivery staff, who exercise their own initiatives in the field to connect customers with their delivered mail.
After completing our task of delivering voting cards in recent days, we would kindly urge all members of the public to ensure their place of residence has a mailbox for receiving mail and also to ensure that they make all news changes of address known to the Census Office, the banks and all other companies such as BANKS, GEBE, TElEM and insurance companies from whom they expect regular statements and/or billing invoices. Cooperation in these areas will greatly assist PSS N.V. to operate a more complete delivery service island wide.
