More than 60 young men and women will be going all out to win the attention of this year’s judging panel for the upcoming TelCell Breakthrough talent show auditions on August 16.
Organizers say the annual talent search event has attracted a record number of youth who will be auditioning at the Culture Center, Backstreet, for a place in the finals at a later date..
They have also set aside an extra day to accommodate the huge number and give everyone a fair chance to perform to the best of their abilities.
“The auditions will be closed sessions between the judges and the performers without any audience present,” said event coordinator, Angel Richardson.
She said fellow coordinator, Berteaux “Mr. Rude” Fleming of Xtratight Entertainment, has once again organized a fun-packed day of auditions with entertainment outside aimed at creating a buzz with passers-by.
“We expect to be busy throughout the weekend putting our list of finalists together,” Continued Ms. Richardson, who also indicated that if time permits, youngsters not yet registered can still get the opportunity to perform in front of the judges, but they must report to the event organizers early in the day so that they can be scheduled into the auditions.
Winners of the TelCell Breakthrough Talent Search contest will be offered recording contracts and studio time to further explore their talents. They will also have, the opportunity to work on and promote their own CD and music video, and best of all, the chance to serve as role models for their peers throughout the island.
“The Breakthrough winners for the first year got to learn how the entertainment industry works and assisted TelCell with their own promotion of products and services, and we look forward to working with another group of youngsters as the faces of TelCell,” said Angel.
