The Department of Statistics (STAT), informs the business community about the start of its National Accounts Survey on July 16th 2014.
This annual survey seeks to collect financial data from all industries operating on the island, such that the performance of the local economy can be measured.
All companies and institutions with 10 or more employees, can expect to receive the Annual Report questionnaire which gathers data over the 2013 fiscal year. A sample-selection has also been made of those companies/entities who employ less than 10 persons.
STAT has trained a total of 6 freelance- interviewers who are tasked with delivery and return of the completed questionnaires to the department.
The business community is reminded that once included in the sample, participation in the survey is obligatory by law. STAT is therefore urging all relevant establishments to cooperate fully with interviewers during the survey period, which runs until this year-end.
STAT-Interviewers are capable to assist with completion of questionnaires but can also be provided with a copy of the company’s annual report to facilitate this process.
The National Accounts survey is critically important for STAT to provide regular statistics on economic developments on St. Maarten.
