Caribbean Netherlands Judicial Institution (JICN) , location Bonaire carries out an evacuation drill

On Monday, May 19th, 2014 at 1 PM the Caribbean Netherlands Judicial Institution (JICN) , location Bonaire will carry out an evacuation drill with the support of the Royal Navy, Army “Compagnie in de West”, Dutch Caribbean Police Force, The Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary (KMar) and the Bonaire Fire Department.

The purpose of this exercise is to prepare the organization for a possible evacuation of prisoners and to practice carrying out the evacuation in an organized and secure way. The evacuation is preceded by an internal clearance. In this drill, the prisoners will not be evacuated ,but “actors” will be used.

These types of drills are held in order to be prepared if a real clearance must take place. This can occur for example when there is a fire within the institution, which is out of control or when there is a fire in the surrounding areas and harmful substances threatens to come towards the institution.

The exercise will be evaluated afterwards.
