Dutch Caribbean Police Force holds information sessions

The Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) held information sessions on Monday and Tuesday on Saba, St. Eustatius and Bonaire for aspiring police officers. The Force is presently soliciting candidates to register for the two years training for aspiring police officers scheduled to begin in October. The theme of this campaign is “You have the guts? We have the job”.
On Saba some ten persons attended the information session at the Police Station in Windwardside. The number of persons attending similar information sessions on St. Eustatius were respectively 18 and on Bonaire approximately 100 persons attended the event. By means of a PowerPoint presentation the content of the function, procedures, function requirements, training and the terms of employment were explained.

During the information sessions KPCN officials stressed that team spirit, flexibility, integrity, stress resistance, drive and perseverance are the main qualities the Police Force is looking for. Persons attending the meetings were afforded the opportunity to ask questions. On all three islands Senior police officers as well as newcomers to the Police Force were present during these presentations and shared their personal experiences with the participants. The Police stressed to those attending the meeting that: “A career in the Police Force is not something you take lightly. You will be responsible for the safety and livability of your own surroundings but will also face situations where you will have to protect your colleagues”.
The deadline for application is Friday May 16th. Applications can be send to pe*************@ri***********.com.
