BDO & Chamber of Commerce & Industry host Master Class in Public Control

BDO St. Maarten B.V. and the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry recently hosted a two day Master Class in Public Control which offered in-depth insights into governance and Management Control for government and public sector organizations.

 

This class served as a stepping stone for a deeper understanding of the theoretical and the real world vital issues that drive successful controlling in government and public sector organizations. The class focused on management control, the introduction of the new 2013 COSO framework, the planning and control cycle, defining performance measurement parameters, effective governance, risk and compliance tools and techniques and the role of a controller and finance manager.

The master class was designed for experienced finance managers, controllers and executive policy staff members working in government and the public sector seeking expertise in Management Control, financial and non-financial performance management, corporate governance, risk management and compliance.

The full two day session was held at the Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort and Spa. At the end of the class the participants were presented with certificates of participation.

The class was facilitated by Theo Telting Msc., lecturer of management control and risk management at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences; Mario Halfhide Msc. CPA, accountant and consultant; and Marcia Illidge, MBA CPA and Managing Director of BDO St. Maarten B.V. who has more than sixteen years of experience in accounting, auditing and advisory services.
