Minister Lake congratulates Prospective Baseball Player Junior King

Minister of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake on Tuesday congratulated Junior King who has been selected for the baseball showcase in Fort Lauderdale, USA.

Junior King’s try out will take place at the end of March by the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates are a professional baseball club based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that competes in Major League Baseball. MNO Contractor is sponsoring the trip of Junior King.

"As a former Little Leaguer, and with my back to basics approach, we need to support our local boys in achieving their dreams. Junior King came to my office, he marketed himself and shared his dream with me, and asked me for my assistance. Youngsters like this who have the drive to succeed you have to support.

"I would like to thank MNO Contractor for being a good corporate citizen. One of the most satisfying things in life is giving somebody the opportunity to reach for the stars.

"I am happy to see that the Little League Infield will be ready for the youngsters to play baseball for the upcoming season that starts in the third week of March. This will give our youngsters the opportunity to display their talents to the overseas baseball scouts during the International Little League Tournament.

"I would like to commend the Minister of Sports Hon. Patricia Lourens-Philip for being steadfast in her approach to get the fields ready for the youth in our communities and for upcoming sports events," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Tuesday.
