Simpson Bay Causeway troubleshooting continued on Thursday;

Limited Causeway bridge openings extended to Friday

The Lagoon Authority as a precaution has extended Causeway bridge openings for marine traffic to Friday. Technicians will continue to work on resolving the technical glitch.

The extended limited openings are in connection with troubleshooting of the technical problem that is being experienced. A test run bridge opening was carried out on Thursday at 8.15am and technical challenges were encountered.

Technicians worked on the problem and the Causeway was re-opened at 10.30am. As a precaution the scheduled bridge openings for marine traffic were limited for the remainder of the day Thursday. Another test run was carried out at 5.40pm and that went without a glitch.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mark Mingo of the St. Maarten Harbour Group of Companies apologizes to the general public and visitors for any inconvenience caused.

The Simpson Bay Causeway falls under the Simpson Bay Lagoon Authority Corporation.
