Nation reminded Household listing survey kicks off on Saturday

The Department of Statistics (STAT) and its 25 interviewers are ready to hit the road on Saturday February 1st to carry out a nation-wide household listing survey.

The public’s full cooperation is needed in order to make the survey a success.

The household listing survey aims to collect the most recent number of households and residents on Sint Maarten while also providing a basis for comparison with the registered population of the Civil Registry Office.

The 25 experienced professional interviewers will be in the field visiting every household for a period of 10 weeks. The interviewers will count all private and commercial establishments and will ask household members just basic questions.

The questionnaire is short and direct, and will cover the following limited questions: number of persons in the household, and from each person their age, gender, country of birth, nationality, if they are registered at the Civil Registry on the Dutch or French side, and at which address.

Lastly persons will be asked to verify the number of units existing within each building.

Depending on how many individuals are living at an address, the interview should take no more than five to 25 minutes.

A certain number of interviewers will visit apartment buildings, assisted living and other institutions, gated communities, and marinas.

STAT falls under the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunication.
