Minister De Weever signs 2014 performance management contracts

Minister of Public Health, Social Development & Labor, Cornelius de Weever on Friday, January 10, 2014 signed off on the 2014 performance management contracts together with his department heads. These contracts are signed just in time for the 2014 budget debate scheduled to begin this week, which outlines the ministry’s goals for 2014.

For 2014 the ministry will continue to execute Minister De Weever’s call for "Putting People First." To enable "Putting People First," the Year Plan 2014 focuses on achieving the objectives of society as set by government, and in order to execute the objectives, priorities and performances, the ministry will continue to work according to the legislative format of the organizational structure of the ministry.

"It will be a challenging year, but as a ministry we will not lose focus, and do our utmost to put people first," said Minister De Weever. "Two thousand fourteen will be a year of opportunities, choices and hope but more importantly about making responsible decisions to maintain a balance in our society between employers and workers, healthcare providers and clients and assisting those vulnerable groups."

"I would like to thank the acting SG, the management team and the staff of the ministry for all their efforts to finalize year plan 2014 which will justify our portion of budget 2014," said Minister De Weever.

The minister would also like to thank all of them for the first draft of the end of the year report of 2013. "As a ministry we believe in preparing year plans and executing them according to our budget and also reporting whether or not our plans were executed accordingly."

"In the past our year plan which was delivered to parliament was used by some members of parliament to bring motions but to avoid this from happening again – our year plan 2014 will be made public."

Minister De Weever further stated that they are all looking forward to continuing the work in 2014 and continuing putting people first. "We are also synchronizing our efforts with the other ministries and sharing resources human or financial where possible," said Minister De Weever.
