DP Leader Presents Donation to Christian Drug and Rehabilitation Organization

PM: "The temptation to abuse drugs, any drugs including alcohol, may be great, but it is organizations such as this one that highlights the potential of individuals and as members of this society as being even greater"

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams, on behalf of the Democratic Party of St. Maarten, presented a donation to members of the Key to Freedom Organization, a Christian Rehabilitation Center that focuses on using the Christian Faith to help persons overcome their challenges with drug and alcohol abuse.

The Prime Minister stated that she commends the activities of the organization and therefore, on behalf of the Democratic Party, presented her token of support to the organization: "The temptation to use and abuse drugs, any drugs including alcohol, may be great, but it is organizations such as this one that highlights the potential of individuals and as members of this society as being even greater.

Government is working very hard with its partners, including Key to Freedom, to address the issue of drug use and drug abuse within the community in general and with our youth more specifically. To those who already have a problem and are seeking help I would like to stress that there is support and assistance out there. Do not be ashamed and do not hesitate to seek out that help. Together we can overcome addiction and you can be a positive contributor to this wonderful country we call home.

"Keeping this in mind, on behalf of the Democratic Party, I would like to thank Pastor Elvison Adamus and his team for helping numerous individuals overcome their addition through faith and hard work," concluded the PM.
