Civil Registrars receive new attire for wedding ceremonies

Romeo Marlin, head of the Civil Registry Department which falls under the Ministry of General Affairs announced on Wednesday that her staff of civil registrars and extraordinary civil registrars has received new attire (togas and bibs) for when they officiate at a marriage. 

The new togas display the colors of the national flag with the coat of arms of Sint Maarten enclosed by the name of the department.

There are 12 registrars that perform marriages with six Civil Registrars located at the Civil Registry and five extraordinary Civil Registrars who assist the department with external tourist marriages.

All 12 have been sworn in at the Court of First Instance prior to performing their duties.

So far the Civil Registry Department has performed 180 marriages for 2013.
