Prime Minister Lauds Establishment of South Reward Community Council

Looks Forward To Continued Close Dialogue With Community Representatives

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams congratulated the South Reward Community on the election of its first Community Council on Sunday, The Council was inducted through the efforts of the Participant Foundation, the organization also behind organizing the community into elected a community council.

 

The Prime Minister stated that she wholeheartedly supported the establishment of the council and that she looked forward to a close dialogue with the representatives of the district. "This is a perfect example of inclusive representation of a community on St. Maarten," commented the Prime Minister. "I encourage all communities on the island to establish representation if they have not yet done so and I can assure the representatives of the South Reward Community Council that I am looking forward to discussing the various issues that they bring forth on behalf of the South Reward Community," continued the PM.

The South Reward Community Council will soon be postulating a Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary based on the community representatives already elected with elected representative Myra Provence thanking specifically Prime Minister Wescot-Williams for her presence and her continued support for community organizations on the island. "It is through the organizing and electing of representatives that the voice of the people can be heard and I will ensure that this is done," concluded the PM. The Prime Minister was joined by Minister of VROMI the Honorable Maurice Lake and Members of Parliament the Honorable Theo Heyliger and William Marlin.
