MAC School Browllia Maillard Campus hit by vandals

Classes at the MAC School Browllia Maillard Campus will be back to normal on Tuesday, September 3 at 8.00am.

On Monday teachers, parents and pupils were confronted with empty fire extinguishers scattered throughout the school grounds.

The Fire Department responded to the situation and sprayed down the grounds with water to wash away the contents of the emptied extinguishers.

The school remained open on Monday. Parents were allowed to pick up their children if they had a respiratory condition or a concern for their children’s health.

The Fire Department indicated that the chemical agent used in fire extinguishers do not pose a threat because it was released out into the open air. If the content of the extinguishers were released in a closed space then it could cause problems to those with asthma and possibly skin irritation. Apparently the vandalism took place over the weekend.

The fire extinguishers will be refilled to ensure that the campus meets fire codes.
