GEORGETOWN, Guyana –Tall fast bowler Jason Holder says he is feeling relaxed and in a good frame of mind as he prepares for Tuesday’s second One-Day International against Pakistan at the Guyana National Stadium.
The impressive 21-year-old had the remarkable, career-best figures of 4-13 off 10 overs in the opening contest on Sunday, though the Windies lost by a large margin.
Playing just his fourth match at the international level, Holder ripped through the Pakistan top order, bowling two of his victims, trapping one leg-before-wicket and having the other brilliantly caught behind by Johnson Charles.
A graduate of the Sagicor High Performance Centre, Holder said he was looking for more success in the upcoming matches.
"I am very pleased about the performance. I felt good running in and I was able to put the ball exactly where I wanted. Obviously we did not get the result we wanted but I think the guys will be looking to bounce back, while I will be looking to continue the same form by putting the Pakistanis under pressure early," Holder said.
He was speaking to reporters after heavy showers forced the West Indians and the Pakistanis to cancel Monday’s training sessions. More rain is forecast for Tuesday.
"It was a good pitch to bowl on especially after it dried out. I was happy with the bounce and movement I got. Once you find the ideal length, you would enjoy bowling on it. It spun in the second half and like I said, it is not a bad pitch. We just need to apply ourselves a bit more and get the runs," Holder added.
"At the beginning of the day, if someone had told me I would have such remarkable figures I would take it on any given day. It is just about me being consistent from here onwards and hopefully the team dong well. Now that I got four wickets I will look to raise the bar and look for my first five-for."
