Two armed robberies

On Saturday July 13th 2013 two armed robberies took place, just 25 minutes apart.

 

The first one was approximately 09.35 p.m. when the Police Central Dispatch received a call of an armed robbery that happened shortly before, in the vicinity of Island Water World on the Water Front road. On the scene the investigating officers encountered the victim with the initials N.A.B. who was bleeding profusely from a deep wound to his head. The victim stated that he was attacked by two unknown men while walking up the stairs to his home. At least one of these men was armed with a machete and during the attacked injured the victim on his head with that weapon. Both suspects were dressed in dark clothing and had their face covered. They robbed the victim of all his money and fled the scene. The paramedics came to the scene and attended the victim. He was the transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. Witnesses are being questioned and the investigation is in the hands of the Special Robbery Unit.

On Saturday July 13th at approximately 10.00 p.m. the Central Police Dispatch received a call informing them of an armed robbery which had taken place shortly before on Front Street in the vicinity of Levi’s. On the scene the investigating officers encountered the victim with initials A.N.K. who stated that while walking on Front street, he was approached by two unknown men, one of which who unexpectedly struck him with an unknown object in his face, knocking him to the ground. While on the ground the other suspect searched his pockets taking his money and other important documents. After committing this act the suspects took-off running. The victim was bleeding from a cut under his chin and was treated on the scene by paramedics and then transported to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. The Special Robbery Unit is investigating.
