The Minister of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Development and Infrastructure (Ministry VROMI) Hon. Maurice Lake says he intends to work at the ministry’s core task of serving Sint Maarten and its people.

"’Public Works’ as the ministry is popularly called should do just that – work for the people to bring visible improvement to our infrastructure and quality of life. This is a task that no ministry or government can do alone, as it requires the input of every resident, doing their part if we truly want to make this goal a success. Together, we can make a difference in Sweet St. Maarten Land," Minister Hon. Maurice Lake said on Tuesday.

The Minister’s Cabinet comprises of the following persons, namely: Joe Richardson as Senior Advisor; Veronica Jansen-Webster as Chef de Cabinet; Marieke van Zadelhof as Legal Advisor; Tatiana Arrindell as Executive Assistant/Public Relations; Otmar Jonis as Administrative Assistant and Rafael Arrindell as Driver.

Minister Lake said that there are several projects that Ministry VROMI is busy with that are in various stages of execution. Some are on the drawing board, others in the preparation stage, while others are in a more advanced stage. "The pace of work must be hastened with attention to details and proper execution," Minister Lake pointed out.

"Our challenges may be new. The instruments with which we meet them may be new. But those values upon which our success depends, through – honesty, hard work, courage and fair play, tolerance loyalty and patriotism- are things of old, preached to us by our fore fathers.

"Sint Maarten, let us come together as a resilient people to continue to build our country. Let it be said by our children’s children that when tested as a young country, we refused to quit.

"We took a stand through political maturity and reform and came together with the grace of God and moved our country, Our Sweet Sint Maarten land forward with the goal of delivering her safely and better for future generations, and we shall continue along this track," Minister Lake pointed out.
