The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams congratulated renown artist and portraiteer Cynric Griffith for receiving the Prins Bernhard Culture Awards at a reception at Sheer restaurant on Saturday. The Prime Minister joined various dignitaries including Governor Holiday and Minister of Education Patricia Lourens in expressing her congratulations and admiration to the artist.

"What a wonderful way to celebrate your work and your contribution to our Country St. Maarten for so many decades. I think it is so befitting that your work, your contribution and your instruction are being rewarded in this fashion. I also think it is well deserved and so I join in offering you congratulations from the Government and people of St. Maarten in building our island in the area of arts. I wish you many more years of painting and contribution and instruction on your art to the people of this Country.

You have offered me countless advice on various matters and it is through your dedication that the arts are where they are now on this island. Mr. Griffin if we look at person like yourselves we are encouraged to always keep busy in doing what we want to do in order to keep strong. You have contributed so greatly to this country and you very much deserve this recognition," stated Prime Minister to the always-humble Cynric Griffith.
