The annual report 2012 of the General Audit Chamber was presented to the President of Parliament and the Governor during separate ceremonies on Tuesday June 25th 2013. Each year the General Audit Chamber is required by law (National Ordinance for the General Audit Chamber – Landsverordening Algemene Rekenkamer) to present a report of its activities of the preceding year to the Governor and the Parliament.

In addition, the report provides an overview of audits and advisory activities of the preceding year. The conduct of audits is the main task of the General Audit Chamber.

The chairperson of Parliament Ms. Gracita Arrindell met with the chairman of the General Audit Chamber, Mr. Ronald C. Halman and the Secretary-General, Mrs. Joane Dovale-Meit at her offices at the Parliament building early on Tuesday morning. Ms. Arrindell was accompanied by the acting Secretary General Ms. Nancy Joubert.

As a part of the presentation of the report, its contents were briefly reviewed. The Audit Chamber’s reports are prepared to support and facilitate Parliament in carrying out its supervisory authorities related to government’s budget and public expenditure.

Later on Tuesday morning, the delegation from the General Audit Chamber visited his Excellency, the Governor of Sint Maarten, drs. E.B. Holiday. The Governor received the Chairman and the Secretary General of the Audit Chamber at his offices at Harbour View.

The Annual Report of the General Audit Chamber is required to be presented to the Parliament as well as the Governor prior to July 1st of each year. This report represents the third report of the General Audit Chamber since its establishment on October 10, 2010.

The report is published in both English and Dutch and is available on the website of the General Audit Chamber (www.arsxm.org).
