National Development Plan Working Group Launch Dedicated Facebook Page and Email

In an effort to bring the process of the development of the National development Plan (NDP) for St. Maarten closer to the community, the NDP Team over the weekend urged the public of St. Maarten to like its Facebook/ National Development Plan page and to email their comments and wishes regarding the NDP to the dedicated email address at na*****************@si************.org.

More information about the presentations, frequently asked questions, etc, are available on www.sintmaartengov.org/specialcampaigns/NDP. "The participation of the community is a central component of the development of the National Development Plan for Country St. Maarten and we would like to urge the community to be as involved in the process as possible.

The Prime Minister of St. Maarten the Honorable Sarah Wescot-Williams has remarked earlier that the development of the Plan is essential in charting as new course and direction St. Maarten is about to embark on. "We are momentarily at a crossroads of a strengthened nation. It is through this process that we will define collectively our common vision of what kind of St. Maarten we want for our children, grandchildren and future generations. We need to define what kinds of rights and obligations would bind our citizens and indeed what kind of relationships and responsibility Government should have towards the citizens," emphasized the PM.

In the coming weeks the NDP Working Group will be formed with members from the private sector, civil society organizations and government. The NDP Coordinating Team and the Working Group will focus on collating and compiling a report on the information session, lecture and open forum and Stakeholder meetings which were held during the last few months, taking into considerations the feedback, comments and ideas of the community expressed during the events. "The next step with regards to the NDP will be to distribute a preliminary report to all stakeholders on the feedback that we have received from the community which we will use to move forward in developing the NDP vision and later on the draft NDP," read a Working Group statement.
