Training concludes in the use of life saving equipment on-board nation’s ambulances

A number of first responders including nurses from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Room (ER) Nurses of the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) were trained in the use of the AutoPulse Chest Compression Support Pumps that will be available onboard the nation’s ambulances.

The Auto Pulse is an automated, portable device with an easy-to-use, load-distributing Life Band that squeezes the entire chest, improving blood flow to the heart and brain during sudden cardiac arrest. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) nurses and ambulance assistants recently received training and instructions on the use of the lifesaving equipment. Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour Hon. Cornelius de Weever said: "When every second counts it is important we have the right equipment and trained staff to administer emergency care in order for them to save our lives."
