Genevieve de Weever started the day versus St. Dominic High School in the 13 and Under category. It was a close game with all the goals scored in the first half. St. Dominic High School got on the scoreboard first by an own goal by Genevieve de Weever. Genevieve de Weever was able to score one on the other side of the field by Roderick Allen after an assist by Ditrey Housen. St. Dominic High School took the lead after that by adding two more goals. At half time the score was 1 – 3 in favor of St. Dominic High School and this was also the end result. Top Scorers for St. Dominic High School were Kevin Lambert and Himanshu Kotai both with one goal.
The next 13 and Under match up was between C.I.A. and Christian Hillside. Christian Hillside was missing its top scorer Khalid Tavernier who scored 5 goals for his school before the Easter break. C.I.A. however was out in full force and this was reflected in the score. In the first half C.I.A. scored 9 goals overwhelming Christian Hillside. In the second half Christian Hillside got rid of the nil by a lone goal scored by Denvil Cassares, his first goal in this tournament. C.I.A. encountered more resistance from the Christian Hillside defense and only added 6 more to its total. The final score was C.I.A. 15 and Christian Hillside 1. Top scorers for C.I.A. were Vivik Sabrani, Matthew Dookie and Charlie Taylor all with 4 goals each.
In the final 13 and Under confrontation of the day Leonald Conner faced Sr. Regina. Sr. Regina put up a good fight, defending its own goal. However, their strikers were unable to find the back of the net. Leonald Conner did not have such a problem. Even though it was not easy they did succeed to put 4 goals between the posts in the first half as well as in the second half. The final result was Leonald Conner 8 and Sr. Regina 0. Top scorers for Leonald Conner were Marlon Lopez, Maro Laguerre and Derick Wilson all with 2 goals each.
In the 11 and Under Poule A category Sr. Magda United Stars currently first place in the standings played versus Dr. M.L. King jr. second place in the standings in this last game before the quarterfinals. In the first half the two teams played cautiously. Sr. Magda United Stars opened the score by Jeremiah David after an assist by Jeahru Richardson. Sr. Magda added two more before half time. Dr. M.L. King jr. got rid of the nil just before half time with a beautiful long distance goal by Manukiell Edwards. At half time the score was Sr. Magda United Stars 3 and Dr. M.L. King jr. 1. After the half time break Sr. Magda United Stars started to play freely which resulted in 5 more goals. Dr. M.L. King jr. was unable to get past goal keeper Karan Jusia who played a great game. The end result was Sr. Magda United Stars 8 -1 Dr. M.L. King jr.
In the 11 and Under Poule B category Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs, currently in second place, played versus third place Sr. Magda FC. The difference between the two teams was minor. Both teams had 4 points and just one goal difference between each other. Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs got on the score board first after an own goal by the Sr. Magda FC defense. This unfortunate event motivated the Sr. Magda FC to quickly put one between the posts on the other side. At halftime the score was Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs 1 and Sr. Magda FC 4. Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs fought hard the second half to get back into the game. Currently second place in the point getter award standings Curtis Moniz in the poule B category added one more goal to his total and Anthony Mingo also succeeded to put one passed the goal line for Dribbel Champs. Sr. Magda FC however did not sit back and enjoyed their lead. They kept on attacking and succeeding to score 4 more goals in the second half. The final score was Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs 3 and Sr. Magda FC 8. Top scorers for Sr. Magda FC were Quincy Wijngaarde with 4 goals and Jeremy Hooi and Anthony Lake with 2 goals each.
In the final 11 and Under Poule B confrontation Leonald Conner, currently first in the standings, played against Charles Leopold Bell. Leonald Conner fortified its number one position by scoring 12 goals. Charles Leopold Bell was unable to score. The final result was Leonald Conner 12 – 0 Charles Leopold Bell. The following teams will proceed to the quarter finals on May 18: Sr. Magda United Stars vs Christian Hillside, Dr. M.L. King jr. vs Sr. Magda Dribbel Champs, Leonald Conner vs Learning Unlimited and Sr. Magda FC vs Sr. Regina.
In the 9 and Under category Charles Leopold Bell played versus Sr. Magda Athletics. Sr. Magda Athletics first goal was made by Paul Speetjens after an assist by Nayomi Tjon. Sr. Magda Athletics continued to scored 6 more in the first half and 4 in the second half for a final result of Charles Leopold Bell 0 – 11 Sr. Magda Athletics. Top scorers for Sr. Magda Athletics were Paul Speetjens with 5 goals, Robert Halman and Oliver de Vries with 3 goals each.
In the second 9 and Under category match up Combine currently in second place in the standings would face first place Sr. Regina. Even though it was the last game of the day, a lot of people stayed to watch this confrontation and they did not get disappointed because there was a lot of excitement on the pitch. Both teams got off to a strong start, however Combine showed that they were the better team this time. Combine took a 6 – 1 lead in the first half. Sr. Regina was able to regroup in the second half and scored 3 more goals in the second half. It was not enough versus Combine which added 7 more to their grand total. The final result was Combine 13 and Sr. Regina 4. Top scorer for Sr. Regina was Amaru Bute with 2 goals and 1 assist. Top scorers for Combine were Noah Ledee and Ties Kerssies with 5 goals each.
The games will continue on Saturday April 13 after which it will continue after the Carnival Break.
