The Government of Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and the men and women of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force are coming in for high praise for the reduction of crime in the twin-island Federation.

Speaking at a ground breaking ceremony marking more than EC$84 million in investment in St. Kitts by Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, President of the Healthcare Group at DeVry Inc., Mr. Bill Hughson said the tertiary level institution has committed to supporting an officer of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force in a corporate-educational partnership to provide tuition assistance for the officer to obtain an educational degree in Information Management Systems/ Security Systems.

"The scholarship is would provide in excess of EC$100,000 in tuition benefits," said Mr. Hughson.

He recalled that in a speech at the Opening Ceremony of the inaugural Island Constable Training just a year and a half ago, he spoke that concerns for the safety and security of the faculty, staff and students was placing the university’s presence in the Federation at risk.

"Now, just 18 months later, crime in the Federation is down by more than 50% in the past year. This is a result of the hard work by many: the government, the police force, the members of the Coalition, citizens and business owners. It is a reflection of the partnership we have developed, and the vision we share for the future of the Federation," said Mr. Hughson.
