Saba Cultural Foundation

The Bottom, Members of the Saba Cultural Foundation, organizers of Saba’s annual Summer Festival (Carnival), announced over the weekend that they have started with the planning and preparations for this year’s event. Carnival will commence on Monday, July 22nd and end on Sunday, July 28, 2013.

First, slogans are being encouraged for submission on this our 38th Summer Festival; the slogan must be short, sweet and flashy. Secondly, promoters interested in having a night in the Carnival village and persons interested in participating in the grand carnival parade with a troupe or as individuals should submit their requests no later than March 15, 2013.

Finally, the committee has decided to once again have the annual Calypso Competition which is slated for Friday, July 26. All interested participants should contact Mr. Pydana Lavia or Mrs. Dahlia Lavia who will be organizing this event on behalf of the foundation. The committee is hopeful that many of the calypsonians will participate this year and invite all former calypsonians locally, as well as, abroad to register for the event.

The committee members look forward to the full participation of the Saban community and extend a warm welcome to all friends of Saba from around the world to join us for our 38th anniversary of Carnival. Let us make this a big event to remember for many years to come.

At a later date we will announce several other activities that are in the pipe line leading up to our big Carnival opening. Stay tuned!
