Carter to stay with Windies squad as cover for Charles

St George’s Grenada – Left-hander Jonathan Carter will remain with the West Indies as cover for opener Johnson Charles for Sunday’s One-Day International against Zimbabwe.

Carter was originally called up as cover for Kieron Pollard, who arrived and will be available for the second One-Dayer of the International Home Series 2013 at the Grenada National Stadium.

Charles made 130 to win the Man-of-the-Match award in the West Indies huge victory by 156 runs in the opening match on Friday. During the innings he was struck on his left foot and is receiving treatment for the injury. A decision on his participation in the second match will be made on Sunday morning before the toss.

Meanwhile, the Barbados Cricket Association’s Selection Panel has picked experienced allrounder Dwayne Smith as the replacement for Carter for their WICB Regional Super50 match on Sunday against Combined Campuses & Colleges at the 3Ws Oval.
