St. Martin Pony Baseball League Begins Play-Offs

The St. Martin Pony Baseball League is nearing the end of their 2012 competition which started in January with 8 teams from various neighborhoods on the island of St. Maarten/St. Martin, namely:

 

Dutch Quarter Dodgers

Cul de Sac Padres

St. James Yankees

Philipsburg Angels

I Can Braves

Sandy Ground Mariners

French Quarter Tigers

St. George’s Cubs

The competition paused for a short while in July to allow the selection team to travel to Haina, Dominican Republic to represent St. Martin/St. Maarten in the Pony Caribbean Zone Tournament.

The play-off series will begin on Saturday with a best of 5 series among the top 4 teams. Top 2 winners will go on to play a best of 7 final series for the championship. Games will be played on Saturdays and Sundays at the level area next to the dump in Philipsburg and if possible at the Louis Vanterpool Stadium in Marigot.

The entire 2012 tournament was sponsored by the Island Gems Foundation. Island Gems Foundation also donated all the uniforms for the various teams.
