"It is very humbling to have been granted an opportunity to serve the people of the Caribbean in this way," he said.

"It is both a challenge and an enormous responsibility which will not be taken lightly."

Richard beefs up the WICB’s Communications Unit, being chiefly responsible for media management at events, the Sagicor West Indies High Performance Centre, as well as content management of the WICB’s website, www.windiescricket.com.

"Other sports may be challenging the popularity ratings of cricket in the Caribbean, but it is clear to see and to feel from all the opinions that are expressed daily around the region that cricket still remains the passion of the people," he said.

"This new role provides another platform to keep the game in the consciousness of the people of the region and to contribute to its long-term vitality and success."

Imran Khan, the Corporate Communications Officer of the WICB, said Richard is a key addition to the regional governing body, as it tries to enhance its WICB Communications and PR.

"To have the benefit of an experienced and well rounded media professional as Adriel on our team will surely be a benefit to the WICB and the media and the public with whom we interact closely on a daily basis," said Khan.

WICB Communications is the public face of the WICB, providing media outlets with information on the organization and responding to all forms of public and media enquiries.
