Although the two conversation partners do not want any details of their discussion made public, one may assume the main subject for this medical institution had been ‘whether there is an impending bankruptcy or not’.
Earlier this week, Hernández announced before the Amigoe that the Sehos itself was not filing its petition in bankruptcy but that suppliers, who in their opinion had been waiting too long for payment, could possibly steer towards such. Hernández finds that the hospital is doing a good job of lowering the costs, increasing the revenues and collecting invoices. The Premier and the Sehos executive decided to meet again with a few days.
Millions
In a press report, Minister Omayra Leeflang (Public Health, PAR) responds to Hernández’ statement, that the national government had promised Sehos ten million guilders, without forking out the money.
"This statement is not in keeping with the truth. First, the central government has never promised Sehos ten million guilders, but the central government did set up a fund for medical care in which it deposited six million guilders with which Sehos could purchase materials. Leeflang recalls, "this institute had been established by Minister Ersilia de Lannooy (Finances, then PNP) and myself, in the presence of notary Mike Alexander". With the press report, she includes a picture of the moment when the founding deed of mentioned institute is being signed. Leeflang regrets that incorrect statements were made in this matter. The member of government finds that the financial situation of the Sehos should be approached carefully without aiming for escalations.
