The execution of the road project Cherry Tree, encountered delays due to factors including de timely availability of building materials on site. This resulted in the intervention by the principal, which is the Public Entity of St. Eustatius. After several months of negotiations in which the principal specifically addressed the public interest of finishing the project as soon as possible under the changed circumstances the Public Entity of St. Eustatius has reached an agreement with the contractors of the Cherry Tree Road project to continue the project that is now scheduled to complete per March 2020. Work activities on the Cherry Tree Road Project have since resumed. The project was contracted out at the end of November 2018. The physical works commenced in March 2019 and were originally scheduled to complete by July 2019.
The Executive Council will host a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday September 4th at the Mike van Putten Youth Center where the general public will be informed about plans to improve the road network, the prevention of further erosion at key points around the island and the priorities that were set in this regard. The meeting will further specifically address the Cherry Tree and Jeems Road projects and plans for the construction of other roads on St. Eustatius.
The general public is invited to this Town Hall meeting that will be held on the abovementioned date from 6.30 pm until 8.00 pm.
