Social & Health Insurances SZV actively commits to its corporate social responsibility. The organization is making a shift to engage in projects that embrace community work and stimulates volunteerism within the organization and by extension its stakeholders. The focus areas of execution for SZV are volunteering, social partnerships, education, youth sports, environment, health awareness and prevention. By redefining the ways in which SZV contributes to community initiatives, SZV aims to create a more sustainable impact.
“At SZV, we have a unique opportunity to give back to the community in a way that amplifies the intentions of the organization and its employees. Being a social health insurance provider, we are finding more ways to get involved in community work and supporting the important contributions of various organizations and foundations on the island. We are leaning away from financial contributions and looking for how we can get more hands on and directly support the most vulnerable groups within our community. We see this as an opportunity and outlet to develop positive relationships with our community stakeholders.” – Glen A. Carty, Director SZV
For the year 2018, the selected focus area is volunteering. The first project of the year has been the SXM DOET participation, which took place on March 9th and 10th. 30 staff members volunteered their personal time alongside the operational hours, food and drinks donated by SZV to the 6 selected SXM DOET projects. SZV staff volunteered to participate in; the cleaning up of Emilio Wilson Park, the building of a bocce field as part of the training facilities for the Special Olympics Foundation, Re-planting of the garden at the Guided Living Center in Hope Estate, the building of a cat place for abandoned and foster cats, the building of a tomato garden at the St. Peter’s Community center and the renovation of the multi-purpose /entertainment room at the Prins Willem-Alexander school in Belvedere.
“Our colleagues have always shown interest in volunteering and are active in this outside of SZV. We are happy that we have their commitment to support SZV in projects or events that involve community work and development. It makes perfect sense, as we all want to see our community prosper. Our staff is proud to be a direct influence, addressing a current need and being part of sustainable goals.” – Glen A. Carty, Director SZV
The focus areas in relation to the execution of SZV’s Corporate Social Responsibility platform have been defined with the input of the staff of SZV, looking at the general needs of the community and ongoing initiatives by established foundations and associations. Over the years, SZV has supported several projects under the umbrella of the Corporate Citizenship program such as; the Lion’s Health & Wellness Fair, Mobile Health Bus program plan, the More Movement for Elderly program, Mosquito prevention and joined SXM DOET as a volunteer organization in 2017 and 2018.
