Aziza Vanterpool a 17 year old student of the Milton Peters College who was an on Island finalist in the FCCA children’s Environmental Poster competition placed first in the senior division of the annual Florida Caribbean Cruise Association poster competition organized by the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau.
For placing first Azizal received a cash amount of $3000,- along with her school the same.
Telissa Lionel of the Methodist Agogic Centre Browlia Maillard Campus was an on Island Finalist in the Junior Category and received a check of $200.
A Luncheon was done aboard the Caribbean Princess Cruise ship to present Aziza and Telissa with their Checks.
The competition seeks to promote and stimulate environmental awareness among students and effectively educate younger generations on the importance of environmental protection.
This year’s competition attracted entries from 16 nations, as you can imagine, it was very difficult for the Member Lines to choose the overall winner in each age category. All the posters received exemplified Caribbean excellence and expressed useful depictions of ways in which to preserve the environment.
This is a competition in which St. Maarten has been participating in for a very long time.
Congratulations to Aziza and Telissa, their art teachers, the Milton Peters College and the methodist Agogic Centre Browlia Maillard Campus on this great accomplishment.
