Today, September 21, World Alzheimer’s Day, President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams signed the declaration of The Global Parliamentary Action Group on Alzheimer’s & Dementia.
By signing, the President of Parliament has committed to: initiate and support efforts in St. Maarten focused on increasing funding to support Alzheimer’s and Dementia research to achieve the 2025 goal of finding a treatment, to also support efforts to improve quality of care in all stages of the disease, support families of those affected, support efforts to advance prevention and risk reduction and help raise awareness of these diseases and promoting at national and local level the creation of dementia friendly communities.
September 2016 also marks the fifth global World Alzheimer’s Month under the 2016 theme “Remember Me”.
