Preparations for the second edition of SXM DOET are in full swing! Thus far 35 projects have been registered, and more are still being registered. The SXM DOET Project Management Team is now calling on all persons to help make a difference, to become a part of the change they wish to see. The projects are open for registration by interested volunteers. Projects differ largely; from social initiatives / fun days, sports and health days, hands on practical initiatives, to donation drives, environmental awareness and animal welfare and education projects. All projects go to benefiting the hosting organisations cause, a project they themselves have not been able to achieve due to a lack of resources. By volunteering for the registered projects, you will help the registered organizations achieve the goals they otherwise would not be able to at this point in time. Funding is being organised by the Oranje Fonds to help the projects come to fruition, as well as help from the community and local businesses being stimulated.
SXM DOET 2016 will take place on Friday March 11th and Saturday March 12th at various locations around the island, as part of the Dutch Kingdom’s largest volunteer initiative, executed locally by the Be The Change Foundation partnered with private individuals. Last year’s SXM DOET was the first event of its kind with over 1,000 participating volunteers lending a helping hand at over 30 projects and activities. The hopes for 2016 is to have an even bigger and better turnout.
