NV GEBE is supporting the department of Collective Prevention Services (CPS) of the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labour, with respect to water bottles for the Mobile Health Clinic Bus.
Water is a nutrient that your body needs which is present in liquids, plain water, and foods. Drinking water helps maintain the balance of body fluids; water can help control calories; water helps energize muscles; water helps keep skin looking good; water helps your kidneys; and water helps maintain normal bowel function.
NV GEBE is the supplier of fresh clean water throughout Sint Maarten, and with public health promoting the drinking of tap water which is accessible to all; the collaboration was identified between the Ministry and NV GEBE in the promotion of this vital resource to human health.
Safe and readily available water is important for public health, whether it is used for drinking, domestic use, food production or recreational purposes. In 2010, the United Nations General Assembly explicitly recognized the human right to water.
Everyone has the right to sufficient, continuous, safe, acceptable, physically accessible and affordable water for personal and domestic use.
NV GEBE on Monday afternoon donated 500 water bottles and will do so annually. The water bottles will be given out to persons who visit the mobile health bus for screening opportunities.
The mobile bus of the Ministry of Public Health is designed to deliver a pro-active approach in providing lifesaving vaccinations, screening services for early detection of diseases, and to deliver information and education on health topics that are prevalent throughout the Sint Maarten community.
The goal of the mobile bus is to also promote a healthy lifestyle which entails eating healthy and well balanced meals, increased physical activity and the importance of drinking water, which is displayed as running tap water on the sides of the bus.
