NAGICO sponsored 10,000 brochures to the Community Police Officers of Sint Maarten on Thursday morning, to assist with their crime prevention efforts.
CEO of NAGICO Insurances N.V; Dwayne Elgin made the presentation to representatives of the Police Force; Community Police Officers; Inspectors Steven Carty and Arcella Leonard. “We at NAGICO are pleased to be able to assist the Community Police Officers (CPOs) in this initiative and we remain committed to our community as the repercussions and ripple effect from increased crime rate can be severe.”
The brochures which will be distributed by the police officers to the general public contain safety tips on how to minimize the risk of theft, robberies and burglary. It also gives detailed information to prospective vehicle owners on things to look out for, to ensure they are not buying stolen vehicles.
“The CPOs are a group of officers who are assigned to various districts, to ensure that our citizens have direct contact with us at all times when the need arises,” Police spokesman Ricardo Henson said. “Their names, photos, cell number and email addresses are also listed in the brochures for convenience and this is one of the many ways that we the police are trying to better serve and protect.”
The brochures will be available at the Police station, all Police sub-stations, all NAGICO locations and various businesses on the island.
“We are thankful for this generous contribution by NAGICO and we are encouraging other businesses to come on board as we try to bridge the gap between the Police and the community by forging partnerships with our local businesses,” Henson said.
