The Council of Ministers received the College financieel toezicht (Cft) delegation on Thursday morning, December 4, 2014, to discuss the finances of country Sint Maarten, in particular the status of affairs of the budget 2014 and the draft budget of 2015. Cft was represented by Chairman Mr. Age Bakker, Member upon proposal of Curaçao Mr. Alberto Romero, Member upon proposal of the Netherlands Mrs. Sybilla Dekker, new Member upon proposal of Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba Mr. Hyden Gittens, Secretary General Mr. Kees van Niewamerongen en policy advisor Mr. Erik van Engelen. Member upon proposal of Sint Maarten Mr. Richard Gibson excused himself.
Prime Minister Hon. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams was not able to attend the meeting as she is off-island to represent Sint Maarten at the ParLatino Women’s Conference in Panama. Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications Hon. Thadeus E.C. Richardson was off-island; the other Ministers were present at the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dennis L. Richardson.
It was the last time that the present Council had the opportunity to meet and discuss the finances of Sint Maarten with Cft. Cft expressed that they very much appreciated the cooperation with the three Cabinets Wescot-Williams I, II and III.
