The graduation ceremony for participants of the Youth Development Program (YDP) and the Social Pedagogic Worker (SPW) level one course was held at the Belair Community Center on July 9th, 2014 in front of distinguished guests, instructors, family and friends.
Twenty eight graduates of the SPW level one course received their diploma or partial qualifications. Thirty seven (37) students of the Youth Development Program received their professional certificates in one of the following courses: Front Desk Representative, Bartender/Restaurant Server, General Maintenance, and Kitchen Steward. Both programs were funded by Usona.
Words of encouragement were delivered by representatives of both programs, valedictorians of both programs and Acting Division Head of DEI. The students were congratulated on their achievement and urged to continue their studies at the new advanced vocational institute, NIPA.
The SPW level one course is a one year program coordinated and executed by SIFMA. This is the last course coordinated and executed by SIFMA as SIFMA is in its finalization stage.
The Youth Development Program is a second chance educational program aimed at youngsters primarily between 18 and 24 years old. It was coordinated and executed by the Division for Educational Innovations (DEI) and funded by Usona. In 2010, the program started with 50 eager students and since then have helped more than 200 students. YDP is also in its finalization stage as the program was intended to run from 2010 to 2012 but received extension to continue its operations until June 30th 2014.
