Representatives from the Emergency Support Functions (ESFs) and the Office of Disaster Management (ODM), met on Tuesday in the setting of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to discuss preparations for the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season.
The ESFs that attended the meeting were utility company NV GEBE (ESF-1), Telecommunications (ESF-2), Ministry VROMI (ESF-3), Fire Department (ESF-4), Police (ESF-5), Health Affairs (ESF-6), Social Affairs (ESF-7), Department of Communication (ESF-8), and a liaison from the Dutch Marines.
ESFs gave an up-date and overview with respect to their state of readiness.
Hurricane forecasters predict nine named storms, three hurricanes and one major hurricane with over 111 miles per hour winds.
ODM is urging residents to prepare for the hurricane season, and to always remember it only takes one to make it a bad season.
