The President of Parliament Hon. drs. Gracita Arrindell announced on Tuesday that the general public and political parties and party boards can now view the electoral laws online via parliament’s website (www.sxmparliament.org).
The ordinance is located on the site’s homepage under DOCUMENTS. Listed are: National Ordinance Registration and Finances Political Parties; and Electoral Ordinance.
The new ordinances list the new electoral requirements that will go in effect since Sint Maarten achieved its new country status.
President of Parliament Arrindell last week Thursday met with the Electoral Council to be appraised on current affairs related to the aforementioned Council. The Council was appointed on January 7, 2014 by national decree.
President Arrindell has also invited the Electoral Council to make a presentation to the Central Committee of Parliament with respect to its role and responsibilities. This meeting is scheduled to take place in the week of February 24.
Members of the Electoral Council are Bert Hofman, President, Celia Richardson, Vice President, and Linda Richardson, member. The Council’s two acting members are J. Veen and M.F. Mingo.
