Disaster Coordinator Fire Commander Winston Salomon, is thankful that once again the nation has been spared from a hurricane for the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season.
The six-month 2013 season comes to an end on Saturday, November 30.
The season turned out not to be as active as predicted producing 13 named storms. The 2012 season had 19 and the 2011 with 18.
"We have much to be thankful for having gone through the 2013 hurricane season without being directly hit by a storm system. It can be described as a very quiet one for us.
"I would like to thank the people of our island nation for taking the necessary preparations for the season when it was advised to do so.
"I would like to thank the public as well as the island’s disaster management team and emergency support functions for their role played in preparing the country," Disaster Coordinator Winston Salomon told the Department of Communication (DCOMM) on Friday.
