On Tuesday morning the destination will welcome the Carnival Conquest, its first inaugural call to the Port of St. Maarten.
Port management would like to thank Carnival Cruise Lines for its continued commitment in the destination and the Port of St. Maarten.
The Conquest homeports out of Miami, Florida which started this month and prior to that it was Galveston, Texas. The new Miami-based schedule is part of Carnival’s ongoing Fun Ship 2.0 initiative of repositioning its vessels. Conquest will operate year-round seven-day Caribbean departures from the Miami port.
With the Carnival Conquest, Carnival will have five ships based year-round in Miami, as well as one operating on a seasonal basis. Collectively, these six ships will carry more than a million guests from the Port of Miami – the most of any Carnival homeport.
The Carnival Conquest can carry 2984 passengers but has a total guest capacity of 3,700; and has a crew of 1150. The vessel is 953 feet in length and has a gross tonnage of 110,000.
The vessel was built at a cost of US$500 million by the Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italian shipyard. Its inaugural cruise was December 1, 2012.
